Lee
Lee Roy Selmon's history combines the virtues of family football scholarship with volunteering for the community. Selmon is the youngest of children of Lucious Selmon and Jessie Selmon, who had him raised on their farm in Eufala. He played second in football and was one of three brothers who were players for Oklahoma. Three of them were All-Americans. Lucious Jr. Dewey, Lee Roy, and Lucious Jr. Dewey started the 1973 season. Lee Roy received the Outland and Lombardi Awards for being the best lineman of the United States. The three years he was the team's starter, Oklahoma finished 32-1-1 and won two national championships. In 1975, Selmon was awarded his third scholarship, and was recognized as the National Football Foundation scholar-athlete. Selmon graduated with a diploma from the University of California in Berkeley. Lee Roy dedicated ten volunteer hours per week during the college. Then he settled in Tampa after graduation, and was a member of the Buccaneers for a period of nine years, and played three times in the all-pro league. The business venture he started began. The year 1988 was the first time he began working as an Account Relation Manager for First Florida Bank in Tampa. He worked for the Special Olympics Easter Seals Baptist Church Ronald McDonald House United Negro College Fund South Florida Institute and the Black Life Hall of Fame Bowl Committee. There's no surprise that The Junior Chamber of Commerce designated him as one of the 10 most notable young men across the nation. Lee Roy stood 6-2 in height and weighed 256 pounds in his college days. He captained the 1975 team. In 1993, he became the assistant director of the University of South Florida. He was inducted into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1993 by The GTE Academic All-America Hall of Fame in 1994, as well as The Pro Football Hall of Fame in 1995. In 1989, the Oklahoma City Chapter National Football Foundation presented its Distinguished American Award, to Mr. Lucious Selmon and his wife. Henry Bellmon the Governor of Oklahoma presented the award.
