Lynda Carter
Carter was born in Phoenix (Arizona) as the daughter of Juanita Cordova and Colby Carter. Her father is English as well as Scots Irish family and her mother is Mexican and Spanish. She has one brother, Vincent and a sister, Pamela. Carter was 5 years old when she made her television debut on the Lew Kings Talent Show. Carter was part of Just Us in high school. The band played a marimba, a conga drum as well as an acoustic guitarist as well as a stand-up bass that was played by another girl in the group. Lynda started singing in a restaurant at the age of 15. 8] At the age of 16 years old, she joined with two of her cousins in a band known as The Relatives. The actor Gary Burghoff was the drummer for the band. The band first performed in Las Vegas at the Sahara Hotel and Casino Lounge. Carter was 21 years old when she was seated in the kitchen. After being voted "Most gifted" and then dropping out to pursue a career in music. In the year 1970, Carter auditioned and then performed on the road with The Garfin Gathering and bandleader Howard (Speedy) Garfin. Their first concert together was held at Holiday Inn Chinatown, a San Francisco hotel that had no sidewalk entrance. They played mostly to hotel staff and guests who parked their cars underground. The Garfin Gathering performed shows throughout the Nevada "Silver Circuit" and also in many of Nevada's casinos. Carter left the Garfin Gathering to pursue acting in 1972. He then returned to Arizona.
